SHIKAI began 35 years
ago with a vision. With research, incredible
determination and a touch of magic, it has grown
into the company it is today.
Dr. Dennis T. Sepp, an
organic chemist with an interest
in natural products and Dr.
Vasant Telang, a pharmaceutical chemist with
knowledge of auyervedic medicines, were interested
in exploring the exceptional properties of several
natural plants which are utilized in the care of
skin and hair. They quickly honed in on the
lathering and low pH cleansing properties of
shikakai and its effectiveness as a truly natural
shampoo. They developed an extract based on this
plant and called it "SHIKAI". This soap and
detergent-free extract became the basis for the
first line of shampoos and the name of a new
company.
Today, SHIKAI is one of
the most respected companies in the natural products
industry with over 50 products - all formulated and produced at the
company's facilities in California.
Effective July 31, 2006 Dr. Sepp
retired from management and appointed Jason
Sepp President and General Manager of SHIKAI
Products. Jason has a masters in Chemistry from
Cornell and has an impressive background in the
marketing arena. He has been with SHIKAI and
actively learning the business for 5 years. He
brings aggressive energy and new ideas to the
company.
Dr. Sepp
will continue to formulate all new products and
remain active in a consulting role.
